PRODUCT DESIGN IN THE NEW ECONOMY
100 word summary of 3D programme
What does it mean for design that the heyday of mass production has passed? A period has dawned in which the relationship between factory-made products and consumption is changing fundamentally. The anonymity of the relation between manufacturers and users is being abolished; production and distribution can now be 'custom-made'; and large companies are increasinglydiscovering the quality of small-scale production and professional craftmanship that used to be regarded as inefficient and anachronistic. Our 3D programme explores the consequences of these changes through the medium of live projects that bring designers and leading-edge firms together.
