The PartyWalker™ website works on Netscape Navigator versions 2, 3 and 4 and on Internet Explorer versions 3 and 4. You can check your Netscape Navigator version by choosing the "About Netscape..." menu (in the "Help" menu on windows or in the Apple menu on Macintosh) or you Internet Explorer version by choosing the "About/Internet Explorer..." menu. The higher your browser version the more features of PartyWalker™ you will discover.
If you don't have the right version you can get a Navigator at http://www.netscape.com or an Explorer at http://www.microsoft.com.
Plugins
Plugins are add-on software that enable your browser to do more multimedia.
You can check whether you have a certain plugin or not by choosing the "About Plugins..." menu (in the "Help" menu on windows or in the Apple menu on Macintosh).
If you don't have a plugin you can install it:
  1. download the installer program and save it to your hard disk
  2. close your browser
  3. run the installer program from your hard disk and follow its instructions
  4. start up your browser again
(some browsers do not need to be shut down for plugin installation and Internet Explorer can automatically install plugins)

The main PartyWalker™ website uses the Macromedia Flash 2 (or better) plugin for sounds. You can download it here.
In PartyWalker™'s home you will need
  • Macromedia Shockwave Flash & Shockwave for Director
    You can download it here.
  • A MIDI plugin. Webtracks is a good one.
    You can download it here.
Enable Javascript
Java and Javascript should be enabled to experience this site. By default Java and Javascript are enabled when you install your browser. Here's how you can check/enable them:
  • In Netscape Navigator 4:
    1. choose the "Edit/Preferences..." menu
    2. click "Advanced" in the Preferences panel
    3. make sure "Enable Javascript" and "Enable Java" are checked

  • In Netscape Navigator 3:
    1. choose the "Options/Network Preferences..." menu
    2. click the "Languages" tab in the Preferences panel
    3. make sure "Enable Javascript" and "Enable Java" are checked

  • In Netscape Navigator 2:
    1. choose the "Options/Security Preferences..." menu
    2. click the "General" tab in the Preferences panel
    3. make sure "Disable Javascript" and "Disable Java" are not checked
