To download Shockwave it is best that you check on the
Macromedia site for the latest version.
When you have clicked on the right link to start downloading,
your browser will ask you if you want to save the file: click "Yes" or "Save".
Then you choose a folder in the dialog box that appears. Remember the name of that folder!
If you're not sure about all this, ask your parents or some other "expert" to do this for you.
to go to the Shockwave download page at Macromedia.
Okay, I have downloaded Shockwave, now what?
Now you have to install it.
The Shockwave install program is now on the hard disk of your computer in a compressed format.
You first have to de-compress it.
Locate the file in a folder window and double click it.
This will start the decompression. Look carefully in what folder the decompressed files are put, and remember that.
(If that doesn't work, ask someone to de-compress it for you.)
Then close all programs, including Netscape!
Next, locate the folder where the decompressed files are and double click "setup.exe" if you're on a Windows machine.
If you're on a Macintosh you should drag the Shockwave icon (the one with the puzzle piece on it)
to the Plug-ins folder in the Netscape folder (yeah, right: the folder with the puzzle piece on it!).
Start up Netscape.
Now your computer is running Netscape Navigator 2.0 with the Shockwave Plug-in:
