Shockwave is a plug-in for Netscape Navigator 2.0, made by a firm called Macromedia.
Plugins are programs that plug in to Netscape, to make it do more.
With Shockwave you can see games and interactive movies on the World Wide Web.
You can only use it with Netscape 2.
You can check if you have Shockwave on a Windows system by choosing "About Plug-ins" in the "Help" menu:
Or on a Macintosh system by clicking on the Apple in the left hand corner of your screen and choosing "About Plug-Ins...".
After this you will see a page that lists all the plug-ins that are installed on your system.
Somewhere it should say "application/x-director", and/or "application/director".
If it does you have Netscape 2.0 and the Shockwave plugin.
So you can just go on.
But if you don't have the Shockwave Plug-in you can download it.
